Asked by Guru9TLRK8 Mar 21, 2021 at 07:55 PM about the 2004 Ford F-150 XLT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I turn the key and all I get its a click. It has a new battery ,
new alternator , , no corrosion anywhere , I took the starter
out and had it checked and it was good , so I installed it
back , still nothing , then I went and got a new starter , it
started perfectly,  let it ran for about 15 mins, shut the
truck off and went to start it again and it just clicked , ,
today I went and got a brand new starter and still just
clicking.  What could it be?

Note the wiring diagram for starter motor. jump starter relay just to see if it will crank the engine. Pull the relay, jumper wire between cavities 30 and 87, switch side of relay. the starter motor should crank the engine, that is just for testing. if you try that, make sure the transmission is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Vehicle can't move. My info about your vehicle security system, says starter motor disable. If your security system is the problem, you may need a scanner that can communicate with that system in order to fix?
