My 2002, Z71, 1500 Suburban oil pressure gauge and warning light indicate low oil pressure, at times the meter indicates 0 psi.

Question type: General
At startup the oil pressure gauge indicates 40 psi and then decreases to 20 psi and at
times to zero until I accelerate. After awhile and as the engine warms up the pressure
fluctuates between 20 psi and 40 psi. With 27,300+ miles my mechanic feels if he
removed the oil pan to investigate the down tube and o-ring it would be more of an
autopsy. Considering the mileage would repairing the oil pressure problem be advisable?

It may just be a bad ,oil sending unit not reading right, check it and guage before tearing into it,and if he doe,s tear into,it wont be and o ring,or down tube,it will be a bad oil pump. And yes with that low of mile,s the truck is worth the work.
Whoops, need to correct the mileage by adding another zero apologize. Mileage should be 273,000+ miles.
Oh,k ,,,that help,s,,now the question is,if motor run,s good, and tranny is good, meaning no knock,s or tick,s no smoke,it would probably be worth it,but if it has any of the above issue,s,,not worth it.
Trans is new, one year old, runs incredibly strong, new tires, alternator, fuel pump and some interior repairs to driver's seat. However, there is a noise but not able to tell if its an exhaust leak or a lifter.... ?
Would check it,and see if it is exhaust,or lifter,if no lifter problem, fix the exhaust and oil pump, and you may get another 100000 mile,s out of it.

I have a 2007 suburban with 140k When you start it up the oil pressure is around 40psi. After it runs for 5min it drops down to 0. No noise runs strong. We changed the sending unit and still does the same thing. Your thoughts?
