What type of fluid should I use ine the front differential on a 2006 F-150.

Asked by Kevin Jan 10, 2013 at 08:26 PM about the 2006 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew Styleside LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The owner's manual and all auto part stores say use 80w-90.  But the parts guys and the ford dealership say its supposed to be 75w-140.  Which should I use?

I think both would be OK but I would go with the dealership recommendation. They should be more aware of recent changes than a parts store clerk.

both will work fine but 75-140 is more expensive its synthetic. parts guy wants to make more money. owners manual is more reliable than someone who gets paid commission.

Read the tag on the axle is the best info, if the tag reads specific Synthetic stick with it. 75- 140 for sure for the rear axle.
