Suburban: Rough Idle At Cold Start

Asked by Gaona61 Oct 18, 2016 at 11:08 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2002 Chevy Suburban 2500 idles very
rough when starting for the first time in the
morning. It will go from very low rpm's,
about 500, and start studdering as if it
wants to turn off then rev itself all the way
up to about 3,000 rpm's.

Give the xar a good tune up, wires, cap, plugs, change the fuel filter, clean the throttle body and new air filter.

Could be a bad/sticking throttle position sensor or the idle air control valve, pull the pcv valve out of the valve cover to see if it rattles freely
