Which engine swap

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 1992 F250 5.8L engine is bad. Other than replacing it with another 5.8, which engine could I use that would not require a lot of other work to make it run, computer etc.

you can use the 5.0l or the 4.9 the computers are under the dash and quite easily swapped if necessary
5.0L, you will need an adapter plate for the bell housing on the transmission depending on the year.
apparently there's a 7.3L also, but gas is something like 8 or 10 mpg. not sure what you're trying to do with it, but hope this helps.
This truck is a beater, use it for delivering wood and doing some dump runs. Put approximately 1000 miles on it a year. It is not worth putting a rebuild in it so I thought I could pickup something at a wreckers that would do fine. Does not have to have lots of power as it never goes more than a few miles any time I go out with it.
I need a replacement engine for my 351 but bigger

i have a 1993 f150 with a sized 5.0 motor, f250 5.0 and 5.8's are across the board cheaper, will it still be easy to replace my motor if it comes off a f250 rather than an f150
