Bad battery, bad battery connections, or bad ignition switch can cause the key to get stuck. To release the key, look under the steering wheel for a hole, or an indentation where a hole was supposed to be drilled. Stick a paper clip up there to release, or carefully drill it out, and stick the paperclip up there to release.
