Hey guys I got a 2002 trailblazer 4.2L and recently
changed water pump and instead of putting a
stock fan clutch on it I put a heavier duty clutch on
it and it roars now, cooling is fine and haven’t had
any problems with it so far but check engine light
came on and my OBD2 throws a P0495 code
which is Fan speed High, I called shops and they
said it was normal since the computer is setup for
a stock one and I put Heavier duty one on. Was
gona ask what you guys think ?

Heavier duty one??? Normal heavy duty ones will not roar, it is not normal no. Now, if you happened to use the better clutches for 07-09, then the PCM needs to be updated and programmed for it. Back to your problem.....I've personally done a lot of these, I have also personally experienced bad fan clutches right out of the box. Exchange it out! Your wallet will thank you from the bad gas mileage.
Oh, on a side note, when you replace with a new one, and you hear "ticking", exchange for a new one again. Another common problem. I ended up for both of my TB's, buying lifetime warrantied locally, good thing it's easy to change. If you're doing it yourself, a tip that will save you half the time, cut a notch in the fan shroud where the upper radiator hose is. Easy off easy on.
Thank you so much guys a lot of helpful stuff here already . I too it to the shop and they I got them to look it over. The fan clutch I have upgraded to is from standard to a four seasons severe duty thermal clutch, the roaring im hearing from the fan turning faster shop said was normal and since I upgraded To heavier duty clutch the check engine light would stay on since its only programmed for stanadard settings, still on the fence about it but it’s working great so far as long as it keeps doing good hopefully won’t hsve to change it again . Tysm guys helped a lot
Four Seasons # 46024 Severe Duty should NOT roar, get it replaced, it's defective. Most of us on this platform run a Severe Duty. P0495, means it's spinning too fast, the clutch is engaged fulltime, hence the roaring like a jet. Go to a different mechanic, he's full of it. This problem was so common, GM changed the clutch design sometime in 2005. You got a bad clutch right out of the box regardless. Get it swapped out, and keep swapping out til' you get a good one, that doesn't roar anymore.
