Try shifting it all the way into low, and check that shift linkage is moving. If ok, then check transmission fluid level. Low fluid can cause too low a fluid pressure to shift (also assuming you have an automatic since you didn't specify). If that check ok it'll need to be looked at by a shop, can be anything from a worn pump shaft to bad torque converter or valve body.

Danny, when you shift into drive, does the light go into D on the dash also? Check your plastic linkeage bushing. Dorman makes the replacement, pretty cheap.

The young person above, who's father had a hack works.. Turn the ignition over, but do not turn on the truck. Shift from park to drive a couple of times then restart the engine. The 4x4hi and low, all wheel drive and 2 wheel is Set by a computer. If you improperly shifted into any mode it sticks... hack your truck hack the world . Hope this helped... thank your dad kid!!!✌

Shaun, mine (2004 Trailblazer) just did the same exact thing about 2 weeks ago. 55mph - no gears, just went. Still starts, but absolutely no gears. Praying it's not torque converter. Did you find anything out?

Got same issue. Wheel spun in rain, now it wont move in any gear selected. Also my abs light is on. I think this issue is a dirty or malfunction abs and or wheel speed sensor. Taking tire off tomorrow. Ive tried everything else.

My 2004 trailblazer did the same thing tonight if I find an answer to this I will let you all know since no one is answering this question

No one is answering because no one has figured out a solution, would be my guess. My 2004 Trailblazer is still sitting in my mechanics yard, about 8 months now. We have no idea where to even start to fix it, since we don't know what the problem is. Torque converter? Tranny was replaced 3 months prior, to it loosing all gears at 55mph. Solenoids? Valve body? It could be almost anything- don't have the money to throw new parts at it, one by one, to see what fixes it. Ended up buying another 2004 Trailblazer - I love the Trailblazers, what can I say:) Keeping the other one for parts. But, please, if anyone figures this out, let us know.

Was told my multiple people that it might just be in limp mode too, but without knowing why it was in limp mode....no solution. Tried buying another brain, to see if that would kick it out of limp mode - didn't work. Tranny fluid was at perfect level, no burning smell, when it happened, so mechanic said it wasn't the tranny. Without it being able to move at all, very hard to diagnose. Just trying to remember everything we tried, maybe it would help someone else. It was having some sort of fuel issues before this happened. Replaced map (maf) sensor, cleaned throttle body, replaced fuel regulator, everything short of fuel pump(last resort) before this happened. In short, I was having all kinds of issues with it, before this happened. This was just the last straw. Someone mentioned ABS light above - yes, mine was on, but it was also on for the 13 years I owned a Chevy malibu too, so paid no attention. If I remember anything else, I'll post. If any of this helps anyone else, please let us know.

Just happened. Nylon bushing at the end of the cable wore out. Oxidized. Felt like nothing before while shifting. Engine good trans levels good just nothing. Had to take off whole front center consul, off with the shifter handle. Then was able to see it hanging off broken. From other vid thought it was gonna be the solenoid engagement switch. Cleaned off all of the dirt vacuum and armor all everything. Put on both ends silicone grease. All ok now

Check your plastic linkage bushing . I had the same issue and replaced the broken bushing. The new bushing was very inexpensive and a little labor and was back on the road same day.

2007 Trailblazer fully disengaged, no forward or reverse gears. It sounds like it is doing something inside. Transmission man said the motor endplay is the culprit and that he was shimmying the torque converter away from flex plate to re engage the front pump.

Wow so many trailblazers with the same problem.. I got one today that moves if I rev it in reverse. Nothing in 1/2/d... I will post my findings after I pull it apart.

My wifes 02 Envoy 2wd lost all gears today, lucky she was able to coast into a parking lot. picked her up left the car at the store. Saw on here about the hack and guess what it worked. It was only 10miles away from home and was able to get the vehicle home, lost gears about 6 times but everythime I pulled over did the hack and got rt back on the road. I do have a code of p0480 cooling fan malfunction. Anyone figure or know what the problem with transmission is?

I ended up junking mine, after it sat for a year, after trying everything under the sun. But would love to know the answer to this riddle. 30+ people all having basically the same problem.

Sounds like it electrical like the computer, trans solenoid, or module, but ppl say they replaced whole transmissions and still have same problem. But ppl have replaced one or the other. Maybe ppl who replaced the trans actually needed to replace the comp. And the ppl that replaced the comp needed to replace the trans. Ii have 180k miles on a 02 envoy sle. It's still a nice vehicle but having to take it in to have the trans dropped and replace a solenoid or module just to have something else happen to the trans down the road and have it dropped again, idk if its worth keeping. It's not like it's a classic muscle car.

Well hell, same problem here with 02 trailblazer. Won’t move in reverse or drive and after having it towed home, is now leaking trans fluid. Ughhhh, now to the garage I go. Will answer back with findings.

.Well, figured out my problem. Bad pump and rear seal. No pressure, so it won’t change gears. Hope this helps.

03 blazer, since this seems to be the first forum that pops up I'll give my fix. I had been able to move the gear shift itself, which was very loose, but the dash was not showing that I was flipping gears. Found a video by "Rhyno's Garage" from about 2023 that showed it might be a slipped gear linkage (or gear shift) cable. Was right on the money. Took about 5 minutes to fix. My local auto store had a DORMAN shift linkage bushing kit for about 18 dollars. Code is 14057. Just popped the molded bushing off, threw the new one on, and could properly shift into gear.
