99 ford f350 6.8l fuse box problem?

I replaced my multi function switch on my truck, m my
nights were not originally working, but now we're
working, but my wipers quit working and caused my
fuse box to start smoking.Can anybody tell me what
would cause this?What I can do or how I can fix it,
please
