2005 F-350 Superduty loss of power
2005 Ford f-350 Super duty gas engine (25,000 miles) used to pull horse trailer had
major loss of power and shaking, check engine light came on. (incidentally this was
after filling up gas) Unhooked trailer and took to mechanic engine was misfiring, He
replaced 2 coils and 2 plugs and said problem was fixed. Drove home fine, hooked up
trailer and drove about 3 miles and engine light came back on. Noticed power was less
than normal, but continued on. Took back to Mechanic who was advised by Ford
mechanic to replace all plugs with updated plugs. 10 plugs replaced. Codes (PO353,
PO358) He drove for 30 minutes up and down hills and said it was fine. Picked up truck
hooked up to trailer. AC was on and truck was really lacking power. Turned off AC
and it was somewhat better, but still had trouble pulling up hill. Stopped for gas and
almost no power again. Took back to Mechanic with horses on trailer and drove with
him home with monitor on. At this point he is recommending I take it back to dealer as
possibly there are more major issues at hand. Catalytic Converter? More bad coils?
