Various instrument panel issues with battery indicator light warning

Asked by deputyswife Dec 11, 2012 at 05:10 PM about the 2006 Ford F-350 Super Duty Lariat Crew Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our 2006 F350 SD just turned 66,000 miles and the battery indicator light comes on, then within seconds, the gauges (tach, speedometer, fuel, oil, etc) along with the entire window control system (sliding rear, moonroof, etc), radio and clock fail.  There is a clicking sound once this happens, and also if the brake is applied and it temporarily restores everything.  The seats, lights still work during this.  Had a mechanic check the interior fuse box and the boxes under the hood, but nothing seemed to be out. The battery does not seem to be going bad either.
Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!

An update: one day after posting this, an visiting the local dealer for an appointment, no issues. :/ Obviously something is wrong. No fuses have blown-we wonder if it's a wiring issue maybe??

sounds to me like you have a poor connection somewhere... is the concern repeatable? there are somethings that you can check really easy though... if you remove the kick panels on both sides of the dashboard, you can check the grounds and eliminate those. if any are dirty or loose the i would clean the wire and the place where it goes and make sure they are tight.
