Can I use an older starter?

Asked by carriebear111 Aug 14, 2022 at 11:05 AM about the 2001 Chevrolet Blazer LS 2-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Friend did some repairs when the starter failed. He thought
it was a 2000 and put in a new starter for a 2000, but it's a
2001. Having issues with starting now. It will start, but not
every time. Is the outdated starter my problem, or could
there be a different explanation?

You can use a starter out of another Blazer 1999 to 2004. I think you have other issues. Have your friend check the wiring again and the ground wires.
