What can cause no fuel to cylinders

Asked by Cjr1974 Jan 14, 2021 at 01:14 AM about the 1994 Chevrolet S-10 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 94 s-10 and it
was running fine on my
way to work and when I
tried to start it back up
the motor was running
super rough. I replaced
the coil packs and
ignition control module
thinking it was a spark
problem but all wires are
sparking. I can pull the
wires on cylinder 3 and
four and the truck still
runs the same. It's
running on 2 cylinders
and when I pulled the
plugs from those
cylinders the plugs were
bone dry. I've also tested
and cleaned fuel
injectors. All injectors
came back with 12 ohms
and are working when
truck is running. I don't
know what is causing
this issue. I can't get the
truck over 35 mph and it
starts to knock as I raise
the rpms. Also replaced
fuel regulator and did a
compression test that
came back with 3and 4
cylinders being at 75%.
I'm at a loss and losing
money from missing
work so if you can help
please let me know

Problems at higher rpms, i check for blockage of some kind. The first two things I think of are fuel and exhaust. Hopefully the transmission isn't involved. Did you use a gage and check fuel pressure? My info says 41--47 psi, so if in the middle, should be fine. Have you tried moving fuel injector from one cylinder to the other, to see if problem follows fuel injector. If it does, I think the fuel injector is faulty? Voltage to fuel injector goes hot with key on and fuse protected. The pcm grounds the fuel injector, pulse. You could use noid lite on fuel injector plug to see if pulsing. I'm sure I'm leaving out something. good luck

Did you check fuel pressure, 41--47 psi, key on engine off. If your right in the middle should be fine. Have you tried swapping fuel injector from one cylinder to the next? See if problem follows the fuel injector, if so suspect the fuel injector. The fuel injector wiring connector has to stay on same cylinder, not the fuel injector itself.
