Truck cranks but no start.

Going down the road to work one morning.
My truck surged and lost 5mph in power,
surged again n lost 10mph. Service engine,
check gauges, and battery light came on.
The truck died, n will crank but not start. The
only gauge on my dash that works is my
amp gauge. What could be the problem?
