No, especially if your state has emissions inspections. Here in PA, '96 and newer vehicles are checked by OBD-II scantool for emissions compliance. Your truck would not pass an emissions test because of the removal of the computer system, and so would be undriveable under any legal way. Haynes makes a book on electronic engine controls you might want to pick up...
THANKS FOR THE REPLIES. NOT WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR BUT NEEDED TO KNOW. GUESS I'LL HAVE A ''V8'' INSTEAD.

This is more of a question can you and if so how do you bypass the computer on a 1986 S10 with the 2.8 liter V6.
Some people don’t really know what they are talking about! I have a Chevy 4.3 v6 that has a carburetor (4-barrel) with HEI Distributor and it will out run any other 4.3 on the road They are hard to find only made them 2 years until emissions (government) Stepped in. Dennis
Dennis, what year 4.3 would I be looking for if I wanted to convert to carbureted and HEI ignition?
