Ok so looking at getting a 96 s10.problem
is,the guy says it will run for 10-15 minutes
then has valve chatter and dies.after it
cools off it will restart.sounds to me like it's
overheating and shutting itself off.anyone
agree?and where would you start?

I wouldn't start on it at all, pass it by, a motor that has ben getting hot can... and maybe it did, cause some major damage. Probably be dropping a new motor in.
A 96 s10 won't shut off because it's overheating until it locks up or blows a head gasket
It has a bad engine. Look at what a good rebuilt engine will cost and take that cost and $250.00 off his asking price if you don't mind buying a problem vehicle. Or look elsewhere for a different one. There are a lot of good S10s out there waiting for you to buy it.
My gas pump has quite running ! Do the s 10 have a reset switch on it some where ? !
