96 s10 not shifting right

Asked by Mc_Tiglit Nov 15, 2019 at 06:34 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet S-10 LS RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I was driving and all of a sudden my rpms shot
up and the truck started revving but not
accelerating. I tried changing it into low and high
gear but same results. Even reverse wouldn't move.
I shut the truck off and back on and it runs good
for another 4 miles then does it again. Anyone go
ideas on what is wrong. Hoping trans isnt going
out?

Check the transmission fluid or do a flush on it. You could also try the Lucas tranny fluid thickener. If that’s not it then it could just be a worn out transmission.

Checked the transmission fluid and it's good. Havent flushed it yet. I will have to try that and see if it helps. Thanks for the help though.
