Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After we pulled the S10 out of storage we drained the oil, and we were suprised to find water and anti freez in the oil. Yet note that it was NOT mixed in it. Should i just got some bars-leak treatment or should i pull the motor out and check everything. The internet says s10's have some intake leak on them. anything helps please tell me what ya know!

was it fired up before you drained the oil?

take off throttle body.unhook all lines get down to intake remove.the intake gaskets are made of plastic, and over a period of time they will crack and let collent drain into oil.all you need to do is replace the intake gaskets.no stop leak or engine removal is needed.this is a easy job and can be done in 2 to 4 hours.the only down side to this is the new gaskets are plastic to.put a thin coat of black rtv under gaskets,we have found out at the shop this will increase the life of the intake gasket in itself.change oil and filter, run it 500 miles, and change it oil and filter again.then every 3,000 miles.like said is a easy job, just be carefulputting intake on as it has a plastic top on the S-10,also mark the fuel lines in back of TB their is 2 of them.have done this on about 20 of them.good luck on it.

also when putting back together, put the black rtv in all 4 corners of gasket, sjust a dab will do let stand for 5 minutes then set intake in place this well stop any oil leaks that may occure, when tightening bolts start in middle on each side tighten back and forth middle one back one front and so ondo left then right.tourk the same way.

There's also a class action lawsuit about the GM Dex-Cool and intake manifold issues. www.dexcoolsettlement.com or something like that. I just saw it in a magazine last night. They will cover the cost of repairs as part of the class action.

do not ever use bars-leak, my cousin used that and it got caught up in the heater core and blew a hole in it, and the truck overheated and cracked the head. never heard any good reviews on it

no, the new lower intake gasket are no longer plastic, they are metal and rubber. gm, napa, autozone, etc. all carry different gasket builders so try to find the one that is metal. the intake is the most likely cause that i see but may also be something else. not sure without seeing it. just cause the oil and coolant is not mixed means nothing besides it had time to seperate and that you have an internal leak.
