I'd check the adjustment of the brake light switch...there may be another one just for the cruise...if this is engaged, your cruise will not come on~

nothing pertaining to your vehicle was found...there might be a cable and actuator for the cruise control...you're right...it's a wonky extra thing...forgot about that one~
Thanks Roy, I see the pedal switch,But don't see a adjustment,

the barrel (nose) does not have any twist the hexnut on the barrel---to adjust...perhaps it has two screws that hold it to an adjustable plate....from that snap of your switch looks like a barrel in different forms~
this is crazy but...2002 sonoma cruise not working. start truck and drive about 2 miles. While driving turn key to start quickly and release. continue driving 1/8 mile. Brake lightly just for a second. Cruise now works consistantly until I turn off truck. Repeat procedure after every restart. I'm trying to boil it down to a easier procedure. Body control module issue maybe?
Trouble Shooter. 1993 S10 - Cruse Control works only when outside temperature is below 50 degrees.
