Dashlights

My dashlights for my 98 Chevy s10 won't come on when I
turn the knob at night, but all my other lights work, like the
mile gauge light, back up lights work, day time running
headlights work, night time headlights work, left and right
turn signals work, rear night lights work also, can not figure
this out, tried trading out fuses but they still won't turn on.
The dashlights and the lights for the knobs on the ac unit
both go together but just won't come back on. Any help?
