No compression won't start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While I was driving down the road my Chevy
S10 Lost all power and compression and
would not start. A mechanic said that it was
the timing chain and he replaced it but it still
won't start. Another mechanic said that it
could be the valves. Could the valves go bad
if the timing chain went bad, and or if the
timing chain was installed wrongly.

The mechanic that did the timing chain did not check engine for compression before blaming it on the timing chain ?

That's correct he didn't. The engine turns but just doesn't have any compression. Could changing the timing chain incorrectly cause the valves go out

Try adding oil down the spark plug holes one at a time and see if pressure goes up if it does it’s rings if it doesn’t it could be valves
