01 cavalier overheating

Asked by Hurshell Jan 31, 2021 at 04:03 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced the thermostat, waterpump,
radiator, temp sensor, coolant reservoir, and all the
hoses. The fan does work and the car does not
blow any smoke out the the exhaust but it is still
overheating. I am flushing the heater core soon
hopefully that will solve the problem. Does anyone
have the same problem or know what else to
check?

You could have a minor leak were your head gasket is from what im getting your engine doesnt have proper seal somewere and doesnt have proper pressure there for over heats make sure 100% you dont have any leaks around all the components that you have replaced and then if you want take it to a shop to perform a pressure test! But I could be wrong! Hope ive helped

Make sure you don't have air trapped in the cooling system as well. Hope that helps! Jim

Also forgot to add to remove air all you have to do is once its installed just take the radiator cap off (make sure the engine is cool but running) and just let the air bubble float to the top! Pour coolant wait poor coolant wait until no more bubbles then cap it and you should be all good!
