Really bad gas miliege,, please help

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I've got a 1999 Chevy s10 2.2 liter automatic. It's getting
around 190 miles to the tank. I've replaced fuel filter, air
filter, coil packs, the number 1 injector, the map Sensor and
the plugs twice. It runs fine, it leaves black junk on the
concrete after sitting running awhile. Like that's where the
gas is going. I don't know. Can anyone help or have a good
suggestion of what it could be? Thanks stephen

A worn transmission or torque converter clutch can also cause bad gas mileage. If motor is high mileage all the tuning in the world won't help if valve train or bottom end has a lot of wear. I'd figure out what the black gunk is and go from there.
Main cause of "bad" air/fuel mixture is O2 sensor,. If You got two of them ,try to replace one after catalytic converter first ,is cheaper ,and correcting the main (first ) O2 sensor .... ( Not all of the cars give You O2 sensor code ) Good luck
Surprisingly it does,.......sending signal to computer and adjusting proper work of upstream O2 sensor. . They work as a TEAM
Good answer Jim. Give him "best answer".
Did you ever get this resolved on what the problem was?? I'm curious because I'm having the same issue with my 97 GMC sonoma. I've already changed out the MAP sensor but didnt do much justice
No, I've got new heads, and a few other things now. Its throwing codes about fuel circuitry low and high voltage. But the truck runs good and loses power after it gets hot. You can turn it off and on 3 times and its good for another 30 mins. I havent been driveing it much.
