Transmission/clutch issues

Hi i got a 2001 chevy caviler 2.2ltr
manual i went to put my car into first
and it wouldn't go into 1,2,4th and
reverse but it would let me drive in
3d and 5th does that mean my clutch
is gone or transmission please help

If it was clutch it would be hard in all gears. It should go in 4th the easier since it is next to the highest and next smallest gear. Pull it out and look at the clutch but my bet is transmission.

hey could the transmission fluid be able to cause that if it had none

it will go into any gear and drive as long as i turn the car off and switch gears

OK. you have air in the system and it is probably low on fluid. It will need the slave cylinder replaced I would say.

The slave cylinder takes brake fluid and it is inside the transmission housing. I would go ahead and replace the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing while I was there.
