How reliable are these vehicles? What all do I have to look for when buying
one? Are they easy to fix? I have little experience on cars and I wanted a
Muscle car. I read somewhere that a S10 can get fixed up (If I can find a
site) to be pretty quick and that they will be lower on insurance. Which year
and model should I look for? I know it's a lot of questions, but I'm curious
since I THINK they are pretty cheap also

A 2000 Chevy S10 are selling pretty low right now. The biggest problem area on these vehicles are the front ends. The front end geometry is not very good and the front end parts wear out quickly. If you're in the market for one, look for worn out ball joints (biggest problem) also the front bearings wear out quickly forcing you to change the hub assembly. You'll hear the ball joints knocking around, clunking, and poping, if you back up with it. Make sure the 4WD engages, and listen for front axle pops. If you're able to test drive it, which I recommend, look and listen for these things. The rest of the truck is pretty solid. Drive train is dependable as well as the 4.3L Vortec V-6 engines.
The motor in these is strong! I had mine for over 10 years. 160K miles time for the next owner. Sold it now he driving it. They need basic maintenance but the just don't stop. I miss mine and thinking about buying another,
This 2003 S10 I have is the best truck I've owned ,nothing has ever been repaired .New has 4wd lift kit fender flares zr2 emblem mud tires 4.3 with headers and duel pipes. Strong engine an excellent small truck should have stop them in U.S.
S10 2000 with 177000 miles and runs Strong! 4cyl and motor is super good. Ac not working compressor went bad at 140,000 they all seems to leak oil common on these trucks but only a bit no burning though whatsoever. Overall I’m happy still own it!
