Pasenger side tail lights go out when I put on the break

I just bought this S 10 and didn't  k ow it had this problem  tell I was driving it
home, my father was following me home and told me that the brake light was
out I change the bulb and then I started to notice that it went off when I push
the brake pedal in

Sounds like bad ground to me. Check tail light grounds if necessary pulled and clean them with wire brush then reinstall..also I'm sure you did but you sure you used the correct bulb type.? I believe they are dual element bulbs so if you have just one element then it will only light for one function n not the other.
