Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 2003 chevy s10 v6 4.3l, my check engine light wont go off even after a new gas cap attempt to reset codes. local auto store says the canister purge solenoid which is attatched to the intake manifold needs to be replaced. im no mechanic by any measure accept for normal maintenance stuff. alli was told was its on the manifold, but above or below level? 1 video i viewed said it was near the starter.

I found and replaced the purge solenoid on my '03 S10. im told i need to drive 50-150 miles for the codes to reset at a continuos speed of 50+mph non-stop. Ive disconnected both terminas, the negative terminal and now told to do the positive terminal to reset the codes. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME PROVEN IDEAS ?????
