left tail light receiving 8 vdc all the sudden. Right side is good with 12vdc. How can I track down my voltage loss? Ive changed bulb, checked fuse, swapped with right side. 8vdc is not enough to make it work and hand signals are getting old quickly. Any thoughts?

Short finder at Amazon or use a volt meter and follow the wire set from end to end until you locate the section that is bad, check at and before the light sockets, check the volts coming from fuse block to it.
I’m having same issue but it’s my passenger tail light that isn’t working, changed bulbs even my cab brake light don’t work I been trying to find that short too... I been looking online but no luck on finding the right wire diagram for 3rd gen Dakotas, I keeps getting Jeep nitro and older Dakotas also getting ram 1500 ram 2500, I tried to use couple of these and they wiring is nothing close to being the same... so there fore for now ima take a wire and go from driver side and just wire it into passenger side... just be a jumper wire for now... I’m sure it’s only gonna get worse since I have my 3rd brake light out I hate to over load one wire but for now imma just do this till I can get a short finder of line... if I had a guess where it could short out would be by the gas tank and have to drop the tank to fix it due to the strap is pinching the harness so not gonna happen till spring or summer way to cold to lay in the snow as is trying to chase this down and with no luck
