Sounds like pick-up module in distributor under cap & rotor depending on the engine you have. Distributor Pickup Coil cheap part, most places have them under $25.00. Some distributors have to be removed to replace, so may need a repair manual.

Looks like your distributor does have to come out. Remove the coil so you can get a distributor wrench on the distributor hold bolt.
