Should I try to get my transmission rebuilt or just get a new one?

I have a 1994 Dodge ram 1500. Been leaking fluid and the transmission fluid filter was clogged. Replaced filter, haven't fixed the leak yet. Now that the fluid is moving, it dies when going from 1st to 2nd gear.

Fix the leak! a pair of lines running from the side of the transmission to the radiator frequently has a flexible connection...failure usually occurs at this flexible connection~ track it down an snorch it but good with replacement parts...you cannot assess the condition of the transmission what's leakin' "blood" out of the side~

Who is doing the work? are you doing it yourself? don't guess- let an expert look at it and advise you- it might be somethin' simple, like the judge says- or not
