1995 dodge 1500 5.2. 4x4 tranny problems

Asked by Burgie123 Aug 22, 2017 at 02:22 AM about the 1995 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie SLT Club Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 is having trouble going into
drive. Especially if I put it in nutrual first. When I do finally
get it in gear the rpms have to be around three thousand
to start moving the vehicle slowly. It's also making a
whining noise. The transmission fluid is right where it's
supposed to be. My question is is my tranny done or is
there a fix without buying or rebuilding the entire
transmission.

Did you look at the color of your fluid on the stick? is it red? or a brownish color? Did you smell the trans fluid from the stick? does it smell burnt?
