I want to beef up a 96 dodge 1/2 ton to tow a 2000 25' Prowler Lite 824-5C. What do I need to do to it?

Question type: Car Customization

going to be travelling for a couple of years and want to keep my 96 Dodge
Ram 1500 shortbed SLT. I have a 2000 Prowler Lite 824-5C I'd like to tow and
am wondering what it would take to turn the 96 Ram into a 6-pack towing rig.

the cheapest n for shore upgrade for towing is to regear the diff. Most Dodges in 96 came with 355 rear diffs/9.25 Chrysler. You also may wanna get a limited slip diff for those pesky off road moments. Getting stuck in a rutt really sucks.

Also, if you've got an automatic, get an external tranny oil cooler.
