Torque converter clutch

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i'm fairly certain my torque converter clutch solenoid is going bad or gummed up since when the tranny is cold, opening the
throttle slowly causes it to stall. and when i do get it going, it takes alot longer to wind down from higher rpms as if it is locked up.
once is warms up it is fine,, any other ideas before i tear the transmission down and replace it?

there is no such thing as a torque converter clutch is it automatic or standard but if its auto then i would say u either got a fubar torque converter or it needs an overhaul

the torque converter clutch solenoid is prolly gummed up. but your saying its the 518 auto is actually false, the 518 auto got the axe in 94 when they switched to the 2nd gen body style, your transmission is deemed the 46RE (if you have one of the V8s) 44RE (with the V6)

The A518, later renamed 46RH (hydraulic controlled governor pressure) and 46RE (electronic controlled governor pressure), is an A727 derivative with overdrive, in the A500 ilk. Starting in 1990, it was used in some trucks and vans. The overdrive fourth gear ratio is 0.69:1.
