97 dodge ram 1500 st 5.9L crank no start

Asked by kimomondragon Apr 16, 2016 at 02:25 PM about the 1997 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie SLT LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

At the distributor end of
the coil wire,using the
screwdriver to ground
method, i get a quarter
inch yellowish-orange
spark.
With the coil wire
removed from the coil the
tower will arc over to the
case with a long skinny
blue spark.
I get nothing at the plug
wire(s).
The timing chain and
gears, the crank pos.
sensor (CPS), ignition coil
pick-up ring (cam pos
senser; CPS), plugs, dist.
cap and rotor are all new.
The engine is (after
several attempts! )properly
timed.
The plug wires to include
the coil wire and the coil
itself have not beem
replaced...yet.
The engine turns over and
fires(?) a few times like it
'wants' to run but doesnt.
Anyone with any ideas?
