I found out my 97 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 V8 318 Magnum doesn't have a MAFS it had been removed yrs ago, I was told if I put another one on it would make my truck  run worse, My Q is, After all these yrs is that true, it has ran good till the problem now is it wont start after being ran for any amount of time, can anyone please give me some help.

I was told it was on the hose coming from the airfilter it also was taken off, I'm truly confused now! what is the TB/intake? I have to be in washing state asap and have no strait answer from any one I have read a lot of people statements about other things going wrong with thiet trucks I don't have any of those proublems and never have my truck has 178,000 miles on it and I take very good care of it, its been in the family for yrs..if you can healp please do..
