1998 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 liter

Asked by Tina Dec 22, 2015 at 08:20 AM about the 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie SLT Club Cab LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok so i have no spark getting to my plugs
now I have changed all of these items and I
have no where else to go this is the last
thing before the computer as far as I know
other then all the wiring
Have put in new- pick up coil, ignition coil,
plugs wires, rotor cap, distributor cap,
crank shaft sensor, throttle position sensor
and idle air control sensor
Now when it first started the problem I had
just got gas and came to a stop before
leaving the gas station and pulled out and
hit the gas and it died, then it did it again
when I was driving would sputter and stall
so I had to wait each time s few minutes
the re start and hold my foot on both the
gas and the break a little to come to a stop
or it would do it, we changed the first
sensor then it didn't do it for a day then
started to do it again, so I parked it and
didn't go anywhere for s couple days.
Came out and tryed to start it to leave and
it would not start at all and we have
checked every way we could for spark but
after changing all that there is still no
spark. And don't know if this matters but
my cigarette little would blow constantly I
had to change 3-4 fuses in 3-4 months like
a lot which doesn't sound right but we
checked all the fuses even the ones under
the hood and seems to be fine there too. I
just want my truck back for Christmas any
help greatly appriciated thank you Merry
Christmas

Would that have something to do with spark cause it's turning over it just isn't getting any spark

The other thing I was thinking was the ignition switch oh and it has a after market starter on it

Sorry just re read your question and seen where you checked those fuses already. Give me a moment to think a see what else I can come up with to help you out.

So after thinking about it for a while the only things that are left is first what you said in your question a bad computer or wiring problem or the worse timing chain has broken and crankshaft is turning over but the camshaft is not.

I would also suggest to take another close look at the main fuses and use a test light to confirm if it is blown or not.
