98 Dodge Ram 5.2 possible PCM problem?

Asked by Garrett Dec 21, 2015 at 12:16 PM about the 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie SLT Club Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1998 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 4wd. Truck always has
run and driven great, was driving around the job
site, 5-10mph when truck suddenly shut off, would
only crank. Tested for spark and fuel both good.
Tested relays, fuses, grounds. Began to test
electrical components, I tested the TPS and after
testing it engine would not crank over at all and
blower motor stopped working as well as key fob
would not unlock or lock doors but security would
register. I do have an aftermarket remote starter.
Any insight would be much appreciated, as I am at
a dead end, my next step is going to check into
replacing PCM. Only performance issue I have ever
noticed is that when first going to drive after putting
into gear it sometimes will miss just once within 1st
minute of driving.

I am not sure on the electrical part of this what would have happen, but try putting some starting fluid or gas down it to see if it starts. If it does then I would check the fuel pressure with a gauge. Symptoms on this sound like a bad fuel pump or plugged fuel filter.
