1998 ram 1500 5.9 gas. charging system not functioning, had alternator
tested on and off vehicle, two diff. shops and alt. is good. Is there somewhere
other than the pcm I need to check before replaceing it. I understand the
voltage regulator is in it.

DO NOT REPLACE PCM. replace the alternator they are not testing it properly.

Swap the relay labeled ASD in your power distribution box under the hood with another like relay. It is what turns on the alternator. Prolly ur problem.
Ok, I had the alternator checked by an alternator shop and other than the brushes was down to 25% (I had them replace them) it was fine. So I will check the asd relay Any thing else I should look at? Fusable link maybe?
After changing the computer, the alternator, and the battery and still having no charge or voltage on the my 2004 Dodge Rams voltage meter, I found jetjurnigan's answer above. Problem solved.
