Transmission swap

I have a 01 suburban and my transmission
went bad my friend gave me his from a 99
suburban they ate bouth rear wheel dtive
can i swap them?  I was told it would fit
mine has an extra hole on top confused dont
want to put it on and not work. Thanks

is there a wire for the computer ? if everything else matches , 3 speed over drive , linkages , reverse switch , splines I'd go for it ,

The 99 came from behind a 350, you have a 5.3/4.8. The bellhousings have a different depth
