i have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 sport with a 5.9 gas motor. im trying to figure out what trans i have in the truck. the tag under the hood says bd48. when i look that up it shows for a diesel. so im not sure what trans i have. i cant find any tags on the trans at all but on the bell housing does have 064-2 if that helps any

its 2 wheel drive sorry and it says 48 bd not bd48 on the tag under hood

46re or 46rh how many miles usually when reverse goes first soon follows might tighten babds i suggest looking for anotger pr rebuild

Its either a 46 or 48 no matter same trans just the 48 is made for HD (like the diesel) it has 2 extra clutches to help with heat build-up when towing!
