1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Dash Lights Problem

1998 Dodge Ram 1500 dash lights won't work by themselves unless the dome
lights are on. Switch was replaced but still isn't working. The ONLY time the
dash lights will work is if the dome lights are switched on too.

Sounds like dash lights power is wired to the on side dome light switch.
