Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck has been shutting off while
driving and I've been losing power
steering. I took it in and had a diagnostic
test on it and they said more than likely the
computer is going, I need some help?

You loose power steering because the engine shuts down. The computer will probably work if the plugins are the same.

Would I need to take the 99 computer to the dealership and have it recoded?

You may have too, but if it has the same numbers on the sticker, you may not have too. You could just try it first.

Its best that the computer you get controls the same size engine and transmission as what is in your vehicle.
