Dodge Ram compatibility with other years of Dodge Ram trucks. 99 preferably

Question type: General

What  years of Dodge Ram pick ups are compatible with
each other regarding swapping under the hood, bodies
etc? I have a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9l 4 wheel drive, four
door, that won’t start.  Have an opportunity to buy two
trucks that have no engine problems but other slight
problems that can be fixed and really want to get my truck
running so was thinking of swapping some stuff around
and junk one of the trucks and fix two.  The two trucks are
a 98 Dodge Ram 1500 two door extended cab four wheel
drive  and the other is  a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 magnum.  
Any help  will be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!!

I would think the motor size/variety is what matters , seems it would be easier to fix a no start than swap drive trains , if they have the same motors then sensors can be swapped ,
