transmission run thru

what would cause transmission.  not shift up. someone told me that it eir be a
sencer.

Low fluid, to a solenoid to a worn out transmission parts, like bands or the torque convertor, so basically requiring a rebuild. Yours sounds like the later due to the age of the vehicle and mileage if you have over 150K. . Considering a rebuild will run you thousands of dollars, I would think twice in repairing the truck vs finding something newer.
