Dodge 1500 5.9 wont shift out of 2nd gear what could be wrong in the transmission?

What does the transmission fluid look like? black? brown? cherry red? not enough in there? Leak at the flexible connection goin' to the radiator? insufficient level or comprised fluid....take 'er to a tranny shop like AAMCO for a filter and fluid change please~

speed sensor at back of transmission with electrical plug in it. Common problem when transmission won't shift out of first gear.
