clean the connection of the 1/0 battery cable to chassis ground, not only does this provide the necessary Amperage, but is shared by the onboard computer and ignition system...you know with every start it "welds" itself into position....gets crumbly and unreliable after a time...Coarse wirebrush each piece and put it back together....the new transmission probably caused you to disconnect the crucial 1/0 connection to the engine...for a time....all these grounds are important...after re-affirming the ground would check the primary at the coil to make sure that it's getting the 12 Volts needed~

get a NEW battery as after five years these become unreliable and make life difficult for your alternator~
Where is the 1/0 connection located
