My reverse went out, and when I'm driving a sertain speed and floor it it acts like it's not in gear, or not down shift and the motor will redline.

Your transmission is on its last legs. Soon it will be shedding its mortal coil. It must be a loyal trooper as it's giving you the last of its lifes breaths to get you home. Alas transmission! I knew you well dear friend. The transmissions dead. Long live the transmission. In other words. It's rebuild or replaced time.

couldn't b the torque converter, or solenoid?

May be a good investment to have fluid and filter changed. If the fluid is contaminated when drained, you have the answer, the tranny is failing and needs rebuilt. If not contaminated, it could be the fluid pump is week and fresh fluid may buy you some time, but not much.

I have a 95 dodge ram that I am having problems with no reverse. The truck is not worth enough to drop a lot of money on a new or rebuilt transmission. Im not a mechanic, but like to tinker. The truck had issues with forward gears but reversed was working, I didnt have the money to fix so I let it sit for over 3 yrs. I decided to tinker with it, I replaced the control solenoid, filter and fluid. now all forward gears work great but when I put it into reverse, It will back up slowly on its own, but if I give it gas it just revs up like its in nuetral and it vibrates like its trying to back up but wont go. Fluid level is good, nothing was found in the pan (very little shavings). Could it be air in the lines? bands need to be adjusted? or what? 1 Answer
