No reverse

Asked by Mikebowers1203 Sep 24, 2019 at 04:30 PM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Club Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 2001 Dodge ram and the guy said
the reverse stopped. He said when he has it in
reverse he will hit the gas and make the RPM shoot
up to 3000 RPM and it will go in reverse. What do I
need to do to fix it.

You do need help. The fluid may be low but the transmission is probably on the way out. I hope the truck was cheap because you are looking at 2 to 3 grand or more for a good rebuilt transmission.
