i accidently left my headlights on my 2001 dodge 1500 for about 2 hours, went to start it and it was dead, i jump started it, and now it will not stay idleing, it will start just fine, but dies when i let off the gas. Note, it ran just fine with no issues on my way to work

I have to agree with Tom. If your battery went completely dead in 2 hours, it was possibly getting weak anyway. you could try charging it completely, but like he said, if it's 4-5 years old or more, just spring for a new one. If you charge it right up and it works good, it might not hurt to have the charging system checked out to make sure your alternator is sending a good charge to your battery. Theoretically, one your engine is running, it should be able to run strictly off of the alternator power, so it doesn't hurt to check that it's putting out the proper voltage and a good supply of current.
Also consider with loss of battery power sometimes the computer must reset or re adapt and your drivability issues will disappear after a 20 minute trip.
