Running motor loses power, coughs repeatedly through TB then goes again,..why?

Asked by jrl3362 Nov 23, 2014 at 10:27 AM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab LB 4WD

running along nice,.. sudden lose of power,.. cough and sputter through throttle body, "feather and pedal" the throttle and it will recover and go again. tried dry gas and gas treatment, also hi-test gas,.. no help!!.  It may run several days between episodes.

My 97 Dodge Stratus does the exact same thing, I sure hope somebody has the answer to this problem.
